Canada proposes four 750 MW reactors for Poland’s second nuclear power plant, estimating $45-50 billion in investment potential.
Neither Big nor Small
Canada is betting on medium-sized reactors for Poland’s energy future.
Enhanced CANDU 6 Reactors
Four Enhanced CANDU 6 (EC6) reactors, each with a gross capacity of 750 MW, are being promoted by Canadians in the tender for the second nuclear power plant (EJ2) in central Poland.
Investment Value
According to Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Tim Hodgson, who presented the offer in Warsaw, the project is valued at approximately 45-50 billion Canadian dollars, equivalent to 117-130 billion zlotys (40-44 million zlotys per net megawatt).
Polish Supply Chain Benefits
Hodgson believes that 60-70 percent of the funds could flow into the Polish supply chain, emphasizing that this represents enormous benefits for Poland greater than alternative options, as well as a significant opportunity for Canada.
