A police‑chased car struck a tram on Wrocław’s Hallera Corridor on 26 November, killing the 34‑year‑old man held in the vehicle’s trunk while injuring others.

Police chase ends in collision with tram

According to the Wrocław City Office, a vehicle that was evading a police chase collided with tram line 20 near Hallera and Gajowicka streets on the morning of Wednesday, 26 November. The accident left several occupants of the automobile injured, with emergency services and the prosecutor’s office on site. City authorities warned that disruptions at the crash site could last for many hours, and the intersection was closed to car traffic.

Was there a kidnapping? The man in the trunk is dead

After 9:00 a.m., police released information about the incident. Inside the vehicle were three men: the driver and two passengers. A third man was being transported in the trunk. The 34‑year‑old victim was taken to the hospital after 6:00 a.m. and later died. Police officer Aleksandra Freus confirmed that the situation could be considered a kidnapping.

Traffic detours in Wrocław after collision

The City Office detailed the routes that tram lines and buses would follow following the crash. Trams on lines 14 and 20, as well as buses 127 and 144, are operating on altered routes. Changes also affect line 136 heading toward Kozanowa. Additional bus lines have been introduced to replace the trams.

Before severe weather conditions that will cause road disruptions, the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management warned of heavy snowfall. Forecasts include up to 25 centimetres of snow, prompting a first‑level alert in the western parts of the Lower Silesian, Greater Poland, Kuyavian‑Pomeranian, Masovian, Podlaskie and eastern Łódź voivodeships. In the western and eastern parts of Warmia‑Masuria, a first‑level alert applies, with snowfalls likely to increase the snow cover to 15 centimetres. The alert will be in force from midnight to 10:00 p.m. on 26 November. A second‑level alert has been issued for intense snowfall in central Warmia‑Masurian, eastern Kuyavian‑Pomeranian and Greater Poland voivodeships.
