Car Collision in Poland Turns Into Police Investigation

A two-car collision at a Warsaw intersection on March 22nd quickly escalated into a police matter involving a missing driver and false plates.

Initial Collision and Traffic Disruption

On Sunday, March 22nd, shortly after 6:00 PM, two passenger cars – a Volvo and a Peugeot – collided at the intersection of Bakalarska, Lechicka, and Krakowska streets. Preliminary findings indicated the Volvo driver caused the collision while making a U-turn, failing to yield to the Peugeot.

Initially considered a minor incident with no injuries, the collision blocked two lanes of Krakowska Avenue towards Raszyn, causing traffic delays leaving Warsaw.

Driver Departure and Escalating Concerns

The Volvo driver, a Lithuanian citizen, refused to accept responsibility for the accident and requested police intervention. As officers were delayed, the Peugeot driver, a Tajik citizen, left the scene, abandoning his vehicle, leaving only the Volvo driver present.

Discovery of Irregularities

Police eventually located the Peugeot driver in the Pruszków district, in Raszyn, and brought him back to the scene. However, a check of the Peugeot’s license plates revealed they were registered to a Fiat, transforming the incident into a more serious investigation.

Ongoing Investigation

Police are now investigating the details of the collision, determining responsibility, the driver’s departure, and the discrepancies with the vehicle’s license plates.
