According to Radio Kraków, Ryś is considered more liberal than his predecessor and actively supports ecumenical efforts. He also oversaw the independent commission that investigated cases of sexual abuse in the Archdiocese of Łódź.
Biography and Academic Background
Born on February 9, 1964, in Kraków, Ryś studied at the Catholic Theological Academy in Kraków and earned a habilitation doctorate in the humanities. Throughout his career, he has directed the Metropolitan Cathedral Archives, led the Institute of Church History in the Medieval Period, served as rector of the Higher Theological Seminary, and chaired the Conference of Rectors of Polish Theological Seminaries.
