This weekend, Warsaw will ban cars entering Podwale from Miodowa, Senatorska, and Kiliński, easing traffic near Śródmieście for holiday markets and illuminations.
Holiday attractions draw huge crowds
Market stalls beneath the Palace of Culture and glowing illuminations on Royal Route draw thousands every weekend, but many visitors still arrive by car.
Congested streets around the Old Town
Cars clog Marszałkowska, Świętokrzyska, Aleje Jerozolimskie and nearby streets on December weekends; drivers spend minutes hunting parking, and some end up on sidewalks and lawns.
Weekend vehicle ban on Podwale
To ease the flow, the city will prohibit cars from Miodowa to Senatorska, then Podwale and Kiliński, aiming to unblock bus routes and limit vehicular proximity to the Old Town.
Police enforcement and public transport guidance
Police patrols will redirect cars from Senatorska toward the left on Miodowa to prevent full blockage, while the municipality urges commuters to use metro, trams, and trains to avoid congestion.
