US Central Command reported on Friday that four people died in the crash of an American KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft in western Iraq. The aircraft had six crew members on board.

According to the CENTCOM statement, a rescue operation is still ongoing, with services searching for two additional military personnel.

No Enemy Fire Involved

The American command clarified that the loss of the aircraft was not the result of enemy fire or friendly fire. It was also reported that a second American tanker aircraft was involved in the incident.

The military has not yet revealed the names of the victims. It was stated that the names of crew members will be provided only 24 hours after notifying their families.

Investigation Underway

The crash occurred on Thursday, March 12. The aircraft went down in western Iraq. CENTCOM has not yet provided details regarding the causes of the incident or the flight path.

In its statement, the command emphasized that the matter is under investigation.
