On 2 December, the Central Anti‑Corruption Bureau detained eight people – three public officials from Warsaw West County Building Inspection – in a coordinated operation supervised by Warsaw’s National Prosecutor’s Office.
Oversight and Scope of Operation
The Warsaw delegation of the Central Anti‑Corruption Bureau carried out the arrests under the supervision of the Mazovian local branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor’s Office.
Officials from Białystok, Łódź and Gdańsk joined the search, expanding the operation to multiple cities within the Masovian Voivodeship.
Arrests and Seized Materials
All eight detainees were taken into custody at the site of the County Building Inspection in Warsaw West. A Central Independent Counter‑terrorism Police unit, “BOA,” provided assistance during the arrest of one suspect.
Investigators seized a substantial amount of evidence, including mobile phones, computers, documents and 1.4 million PLN in cash.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
The detainees were brought before the prosecutor of the Mazovian local branch. They faced a total of 22 charges, covering organized crime activity, extortion of bribes, receipt of benefits, and money laundering.
Several suspects pleaded guilty and supplied detailed explanations of the alleged wrongdoing.
Protective Measures and Detention Status
For five detained persons, the prosecutor applied preventive measures: police supervision and financial surety.
The court ordered temporary arrest for three others—two officials and one entrepreneur—for a period of three months, while the case continues to develop.
