Cenckiewicz Resigns from National Security Bureau, Accuses Tusk Government

Sławomir Cenckiewicz resigned as head of Poland’s National Security Bureau, alleging “anti-state vandalism” by the Tusk government and linking it to the release of a classified report annex.

Cenckiewicz’s Resignation and Allegations

Sławomir Cenckiewicz has resigned from his position at the National Security Bureau (BBN), accusing the government of Donald Tusk of “anti-state vandalism” and paralyzing the Bureau’s work. He claims the actions are linked to the impending publication of an annex to the report on the liquidation of the Military Intelligence Service (WSI).

Cenckiewicz asserts that his knowledge regarding Prime Minister Tusk’s alleged role in subordinating Poland to the Russian Federation is the true reason for the “repression” he has faced, and he resigned to relieve the President’s office of ongoing pressure from the government.

Conflict Over Security Clearances

The resignation follows months of dispute over access to classified information. Despite a favorable ruling from the Supreme Administrative Court on April 15th recognizing earlier actions by the Counterintelligence Service (SKW) as unlawful, Cenckiewicz alleges the government has initiated a new wave of “harassment and investigations.”

Annex to WSI Report to be Declassified

Concurrently with Cenckiewicz’s resignation, the National Security Bureau announced a procedural breakthrough regarding the declassification of the annex to the WSI liquidation report. President Karol Nawrocki has initiated the formal legal steps towards its release.

The President has forwarded the annex, along with an anonymized version, to the Speakers of the Sejm and Senate for their opinions, a necessary step before the document’s potential publication after nearly two decades.

Political Future and Support for Czarnak

Cenckiewicz intends to return to public life as a commentator and has pledged strong political support for the opposition. He plans to actively support Professor Przemysław Czarnak as a candidate for Prime Minister.

He advocates for the formation of a “national government” based on a coalition between the Law and Justice (PiS) party and the Confederation party, offering Czarnak his campaign experience and knowledge gained from his time in the services and administration.

Government Accusations: Army Modernization and US Relations

In his statement, Cenckiewicz paints a bleak picture of national security under the current coalition, accusing the Tusk government of shortcomings in army modernization and damaging relations with the United States.

Cenckiewicz maintains that the BBN under his leadership became a “professional tool for monitoring security,” effectively protecting national interests and the presidency despite government information blockades.
