Centrum Club Files Court Papers to Register as New Political Party

Former Polska 2050 lawmakers submit documents to register Centrum Club after mass exodus from party.

Registration Process and Timeline

The Centrum Club is submitting documents to court to register as an association. Formalities could be completed by mid-week, with a press conference involving club leaders planned for the same day.

Parliamentarians from the club have stated they aim to submit all necessary documents for registration by Wednesday. If the application reaches court as planned, a press conference will be organized to present details of the project and future political plans.

Leadership and Organization Structure

MP Rafał Kasprzyk is responsible for communication with individuals interested in collaborating, while Robert Gajda will coordinate the construction of local structures as vice-president of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.

Membership Exits from Polska 2050

During a remote meeting held on Sunday, approximately 90 people participated, with about two-thirds being former Polska 2050 activists who have either already left the party or plan to do so soon.

Kasprzyk, former leader of Polska 2050 in the Świętokrzyskie region, announced last week that “most” local activists, around 30 paying members, are leaving the party with him.

Strategic Approach to Member Transitions

The exit process is designed to be staggered to limit the political shock while maintaining media interest around the new project. This means further announcements of activists leaving Polska 2050 for the Centrum environment can be expected in the coming weeks.

Key Figures in the New Formation

The Centrum Club was formed last week with 15 former Polska 2050 MPs, including Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Rafał Kasprzyk, Ryszard Petru, and Aleksandra Leo. Three senators and one MEP elected from the Polska 2050 list have also announced cooperation with the club.

Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Minister of Climate and Environment, plays a crucial role in the new project. Her network includes collaborators from her ministry and individuals linked to climate policy and environmental funds.

Expertise and Political Direction

Robert Gajda, responsible for building association structures, serves as vice-president of NFOŚiGW, an institution with multi-billion funds for energy transformation, environmental protection, and infrastructure investments. His involvement demonstrates the new environment’s focus on strong organizational capabilities.

The presence of Ryszard Petru, former leader of Nowoczesna, strengthens the economic and liberal component of the club. Petru has consistently built an image as an expert in public finances and deregulation in recent years.
