On December 25, PKP Intercity announced the cancellation of several trains on the Kraków–Krynica Zdrój route, replacing them with buses amid technical issues.
Cancelled Trains in Lesser Poland
PKP Intercity issued a notice on the evening of Thursday, 25 December, announcing the cancellation of several trains scheduled for the following Friday on the Kraków Główny–Krynica Zdrój line.
These trains were TLK 30171 “KARPATY” (Kraków Główny–Krynica Zdrój), TLK 33104 “MAŁOPOLSKA” (Krynica Zdrój–Kraków Główny), TLK 33170 “KARPATY” (Krynica Zdrój–Kraków Główny) and TLK 30104 “MAŁOPOLSKA” (Kraków Główny–Krynica Zdrój).
The operator replaced the services with substitute bus routes and offered apologies for the inconvenience.
Similar Cancellations Earlier This Week
Earlier that same Thursday, PKP cancelled additional journeys, including TLK 30170/1 “KARPATY”, TLK 33104/5 “MAŁOPOLSKA”, IC 33100/1 “MALINOWSKI”, TLK 33170/1 “KARPATY”, IC 30100/1 “MALINOWSKI” and TLK 30104/5 “MAŁOPOLSKA”. Substitute buses were again provided.
Reason for the Christmas Chaos
PKP did not disclose specific reasons, citing “technical problems”, but unofficial reports suggest the cancellations stem from staff shortages caused by illness.
Journalists highlighted that the disruption occurred at a critical period when many travelers were returning home after Christmas celebrations, and the routes in Lesser Poland are majorly popular.
