Civic Coalition Elects 15 Deputy Chairs

The National Council of the Civic Coalition (Koalicja Obywatelska) elected 15 deputy chairs, a secretary, and a treasurer on Saturday.

New Civic Coalition Leadership Elected

The National Council of the Civic Coalition elected 15 deputy chairs, a secretary general, and a treasurer, according to information obtained by PAP from the KO press office.

All individuals who previously held the position of deputy chair in Platforma Obywatelska (Civic Platform) were re-elected. These include Bartosz Arłukowicz, Borys Budka, Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska, Ewa Kopacz, Izabela Leszczyna, Dorota Niedziela, Marzena Okła-Drewnowicz, Tomasz Siemoniak, Cezary Tomczyk, and Rafał Trzaskowski.

New Faces in KO Leadership

The five new deputy chairs are Barbara Nowacka, former leader of Inicjatywa Polska (Initiative Poland) and Minister of Education; Adam Szłapka, former leader of Nowoczesna (Modern) and government spokesperson; Andrzej Domański, Minister of Finance; Radosław Sikorski, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Rafał Grupiński, Vice-Marshal of the Senate.

Key Positions Retained

Marcin Kierwiński, the former secretary general of Platforma Obywatelska and former Minister of Interior and Administration, remains the secretary general of the Civic Coalition. Jan Grabiec will continue as treasurer, holding his position as head of the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

Full Board Election Forthcoming

The election of the entire new KO board is scheduled to take place at the next meeting of the National Council of the Civic Coalition.

Formation of the Civic Coalition

The Civic Coalition was formed in October of last year through the merger of Platforma Obywatelska, Nowoczesna, and Inicjatywa Polska. In March of this year, elections were held for regional leaders and the chairman of the KO, with Donald Tusk being elected chairman.
