Coalition Leaders Meet Amid Activity in Prime Minister’s Office

Coalition leaders gather Wednesday evening as preparations intensify for Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz’s potential vice-premier appointment.

Coalition Meeting Scheduled

According to TVN24+, the coalition leaders’ meeting is planned for Wednesday at 6 PM in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister or the Prime Minister’s villa. Topics for discussion include the vice-premiership for Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz and action plans for the coming months. Participants will include Prime Minister Donald Tusk, PSL leader and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, and Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty.

Konrad Piasecki reported in “Political Podcast” that there is considerable activity in the Prime Minister’s office, particularly in the secretariats, as an office and staff are being prepared for Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz.

Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz Leads Poland 2050

Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz was elected as chair of Poland 2050 at the end of January in the second round of party elections. Her candidacy was supported by 350 party members, while her opponent, Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska, received 309 votes. First vice-chair became MP Ewa Schädler, and second vice-chair was Zachodniopomorskie Voivode Adam Rudawski.

Potential Vice-Premier Appointment

At the end of September, the Poland 2050 National Council recommended Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz as the party’s candidate for the position of Vice-Premier. The party stated that this choice signals the direction Poland 2050 is taking, with priorities including development of smaller cities, universal access to personal assistance, and lowering energy costs.

The position of Vice-Premier for Poland 2050 was not included in the coalition agreement signed in 2023. However, party politicians argue that Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski from KO also became Vice-Premier, despite the coalition agreement not providing for it.
