Coalition Leaders Meet Amid Activity in Prime Minister’s Office

Coalition leaders including PM Tusk, PSL’s Kosiniak-Kamysz, and New Left’s Czarzasty meet Wednesday amid activity for new cabinet preparations.

Coalition Leaders Meet Wednesday Afternoon

According to TVN24+, the meeting of coalition leaders is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 PM at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister or the Prime Minister’s villa. Among the topics of discussion will be the matter of the vice-premiership for Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz and plans of action for the coming months.

In addition to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the meeting will be attended by PSL leader, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, and Marshal of the Sejm, chairman of the New Left Włodzimierz Czarzasty.

“I heard from one person in the government that there is significant activity in the Prime Minister’s Office, especially in the secretariats, because a cabinet and secretariat are already being prepared for Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz,” said Konrad Piasecki in “Political Podcast.”

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz Elected as Poland 2050 Leader

Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz was elected chairman of Poland 2050 at the end of January in the second round of party elections. Her candidacy was supported by 350 members of the group, while her rival, Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska, received 309 votes.

The first vice-chairman became MP Ewa Schädler, and the second vice-chairman became Zachodniopomorskie voivode Adam Rudawski. Among the vice-chairmen were also Szymon Hołownia, Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Rafał Kasprzyk and Sławomir Ćwik.

Poland 2050 Seeks Vice-Premiership for Pełczyńska-Nałęcz

At the end of September, the National Council of Poland 2050 recommended Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz as the group’s candidate for the position of vice-premier. The group’s priorities include “the development of smaller cities, ensuring universal access to personal assistance, lowering energy costs thanks to Polish sources, and building a fair housing market.”

The vice-premiership for Poland 2050 was not recorded in the coalition agreement signed in 2023. However, politicians from the group argue that the Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski from KO also became a vice-premier, although the coalition agreement also did not provide for this. In addition, vice-premiers are also the head of PSL Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and the deputy head of the New Left Krzysztof Gawkowski.
