The Civic Coalition is convening a special council meeting next week to decide on the forthcoming lawsuit against Mayor Jacek Sutryk over alleged fraud connected to the Collegium Humanum MBA program.
Coalition Prepares Special Meeting Over Accusations
Michał Jaros, the vice‑minister of Development and a regional KO leader, announced that he will call a regional board meeting next week to address the accusations lodged by prosecutors against Mayor Jacek Sutryk concerning irregularities at Collegium Humanum.
Potential Premier Participation
Another KO politician remarked that a premier could step in to address the situation. He suggested that a meeting of the National Council of KO would be held in a week, after which it would be clear whether Prime Minister Donald Smith would take the issue into Wrocław’s domain.
Sutryk’s Resignation Likelihood
According to Party sources, Sutryk is unlikely to resign unless the city budget passes. If the budget is approved on December 18, the mayor would remain in office and the legal process would continue.
Upcoming Budget Vote
The city budget vote, crucial for the mayor’s future, is scheduled for December 18. Failure to pass could force Sutryk to step down, but Party members believe resignation is unlikely before an outcome is decided.
Sutryk’s Preparedness for Court
Mayor Sutryk stated he is ready to face court proceedings and believes the judiciary will consider all factors. He emphasized that independent courts, not prosecutors, issue verdicts, and he feels wronged but innocent.
Prosecution’s Indictment Details
On 27 November, the National Prosecutor’s Office announced indictments against 29 individuals, including Sutryk, former MPs, and the Wrocław President, for alleged fraud and corruption. Sutryk was accused of enrolling in an MBA program, signing a forged contract, paying PLN 9,500 in tuition, receiving a diploma in 2020 without completing the course, and accepting a supposedly fictitious role on the board of the Wrocław Technical Park with an expected PLN 75,000.
