Collision on Warsaw’s S8 Leaves Car in Flames, 7‑km Jam Forms

On November 24 before 11 a.m., a triple‑vehicle crash on the S8 between Powązkowska and Broniewskiego streets left a Mercedes ablaze, creating a 7‑kilometer traffic jam.

Crash Details

In the left lane, a Mercedes struck a Toyota, pushing it into a Volvo that was ahead. The impact damaged all three cars.

Fire Outbreak

Immediately after the collision, a fire ignited under the Mercedes hood, rapidly spreading into the engine compartment. Drivers attempted to douse the flames themselves, but the effort proved insufficient.

Firefighting Response

Emergency crews arrived, secured the scene, and rapidly extinguished the blaze, preventing it from spreading beyond the engine bay.

Road Obstruction

Leaking fluids and wreckage contaminated the roadway, necessitating cleanup. By noon, three lanes toward Marek were closed; remaining lanes carried all traffic, causing a 7‑kilometer backlog starting near Szeligowska Street.

Travelers heading toward Góra-Rowecki and Marek should expect extended travel times and exercise caution during the emergency operations.
