Leo Express begins regular train service between Warsaw and Krakow, joining a growing number of carriers on Polish railway routes.
Leo Express Launches Warsaw-Krakow Service
On Sunday, the first train from Leo Express began regular service between Warsaw and Krakow. Currently, two pairs of connections operate between the two cities. Simultaneously, travel from Warsaw to the Czech capital Prague is also available.
The first day revealed that the Czech company did not have an easy start in Poland. At Warsaw Central Station, the train was not displayed on monitors, causing confusion among passengers. However, the carrier expects these shortcomings to be quickly resolved.
Expanded Connections and Future Plans
On Sunday, the carrier significantly increased its service between Krakow and Prague, from two to four pairs of daily connections.
The company announces network expansion. From the end of June, four pairs of Czech company connections will run between Warsaw and Krakow. At the same time, Leo Express plans to launch another international connection from Poland on the route Przemyśl, Kraków, Prague, Dresden, Leipzig, Frankfurt.
Fleet Details and Industry Competition
Polish routes will see Stadler Flirt trains, produced in 2012 at the manufacturer’s facilities in Siedlce. Passengers can use four classes – Economy, Economy Plus, Business and Premium.
Leo Express can begin expansion because thanks to its key shareholder, Spanish railways Renfe, since 2021, it has managed to bring Talgo trains from the Iberian Peninsula. These will start operating in the Czech Republic and Slovakia – including between Prague and Bratislava.
Meanwhile, from Sunday, the second Czech carrier – RegioJet – is also increasing the number of connections. It already operates six pairs of connections between Warsaw and Poznań. The company also offers four pairs of courses from the capital to Krakow and three pairs to the Tri-City area.
