Confederation MP Declines Coalition Without Control of Internal Security Agency

On October 30, Polish MP Przemysław Wipler of the Confederation said he would join a government only if his party secures control over the Internal Security Agency.

Wipler on a Potential Coalition

On October 30, Wipler spoke on RMF FM, stating he would not hesitate to enter a coalition after the 2027 parliamentary elections, provided that God allows and the nation permits. He added that he would keep his ambitions private, as they might not materialise.

Stance on Cabinet Roles

Wipler made it clear he has no interest in the culture minister portfolio. When asked whether Confederation would pursue the prime minister or deputy prime minister posts, he replied that if they do not desire a partnership with anyone else, they should fight to form a government with someone who can grant them the prime minister position, but that the title is less important than policy alignment.

Control of the Internal Security Agency

He stressed that the party cannot join a coalition that does not give it control over the Agency for Internal Security (ABW). According to him, programmatic issues are the main concern, and he will not speculate on any possible coalition because it could be harmful.

Latest Opinion Poll

The most recent survey by the Polish Group of Research, carried out October 23–27 for Stan360, shows the Civic Coalition ahead with 39 % of respondents, followed by Justice and Equality at 28.07 % and Confederation at 14.26 %. Other parties obtained 6.88 % (Polish Crown Confederation), 4.48 % (New Left), 2.89 % (Poland 2050), 2.25 % (Together) and 2.17 % (PSL). The threshold for entry into the Sejm is 5 % for parties and 8 % for coalitions, meaning both factions of Confederation would cross the threshold.
