Polish Parliamentarian Przemysław Wipler said on October 30 that his party will refuse to enter a governing coalition unless it gains control of the Internal Security Agency, announcing a hard‑line stance ahead of the 2027 general election.
Wipler on Coalition Conditions
On Thursday, 30 October, MP Przemysław Wipler spoke on RMF FM, stating that his party would not accept a government without control over Poland’s Internal Security Agency (ABW). He added that he will not publicly disclose his coalition aspirations in advance, insisting that “if God allows and the nation permits, I will not back down.” He also made clear he has no interest in serving as Minister of Culture. When asked whether the Confederation plans to challenge for the premiership or the deputy premiership, Wipler replied that if they do not want to share power, they must fight for a government in which someone can grant them the prime ministerial post, emphasizing that the role itself is less important than the party’s programmatic goals. He warned that “we cannot enter a coalition with anyone who does not give us control over the Internal Security Agency,” adding that “the rest are just programmatic issues.” He closed by saying he does not want to speculate on any coalition as it would harm them.
Survey Shows Public Approval of Political Parties
A recent nationwide poll conducted by the Polish Research Group from 23‑27 October for Stan360 revealed that the Civic Coalition would receive 39% of the vote. Law and Justice trailed with 28.07%. Confederation came third at 14.26%, followed by the Confederation of the Polish Crown (6.88%), New Left (4.48%), Polska 2050 (2.89%), Together Party (2.25%) and the Polish People’s Party (2.17%). The electoral threshold is 5% for parties and 8% for coalitions, meaning the two Confederations—those led by Sławomir Mentzen and Grzegorz Braun—would still enter the Sejm because they each exceeded the threshold.
Electoral Threshold and Seat Projection
The poll indicates that, while Confederation secured 14.26% of the vote, both factions under Sławomir Mentzen and Grzegorz Braun would surpass the 5% threshold for parties and 8% threshold for coalitions, guaranteeing their presence in the Sejm.
