Counterterrorists End Standoff After Man Barricades Self, Threatens Woman

On Feb. 17, police and counterterrorists resolved a standoff in Warsaw where a 35-year-old man barricaded himself and threatened a locked-out woman.

Police Response

On Tuesday, February 17, around 10 a.m., multiple police units responded to a disturbance at a residence on Kasprzaka Street in Warsaw’s Wola district. A 35-year-old Polish man had barricaded himself inside.

Negotiations Fail

Despite immediate police presence, the man refused to cooperate. As the situation escalated, negotiators and specialized counterterrorist units were summoned to the scene.

Resolution

After negotiations proved unsuccessful, authorities decided on a forced entry. Counterterrorists entered the apartment, arresting the 35-year-old Polish citizen involved in the standoff.

Aftermath

The woman, who had been locked on the balcony and threatened, was secured by police and confirmed safe. No injuries were reported. The arrested man is facing further police investigation.
