Court Delivers Verdicts in Brutal Murder of 8-Year-Old Kamil Mrozek

The District Court in Częstochowa has sentenced Dawid B. to 25 years for the murder of eight-year-old Kamil Mrozek, while his mother received 16 years for complicity.

Court Sentencing in Częstochowa

The District Court in Częstochowa has announced the verdict in one of Poland’s most shocking cases of child abuse in recent years. Dawid B., accused of the brutal murder of eight-year-old Kamil Mrozek, was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The boy’s mother, Magdalena B., received a 16-year sentence for complicity and passive consent to months of abuse. The ruling is not yet final.

Details of the Brutal Attack

The trial began on June 30, 2025. The indictment was prepared by the Regional Prosecutor’s Office in Gdańsk, which charged Dawid B. with murder committed with extreme cruelty under conditions of recidivism.

According to investigators, on March 29, 2023, the man attacked the boy in the family home in Częstochowa. Dawid B. allegedly poured boiling water on Kamil, beat him with fists and a showerhead, and caused severe burns when the child came into contact with a heated coal stove.

Doctors confirmed that injuries covered approximately 25 percent of the boy’s body, and the eight-year-old showed numerous signs of previous violence, including broken limbs.

Discovery and Death of the Victim

The alarm was raised by the boy’s biological father, who noticed the child’s dramatic condition during a visit. Kamil was transported to the Upper Silesian Children’s Health Center in Katowicce, where doctors fought for his life for 35 days before he died on May 8, 2023.

Violence Also Affected Other Children

Investigators determined that Kamil was not the only child experiencing violence in the home. The indictment also covered the abuse of other minors living with Dawid B., including 3-year-old Mateusz B., 15-year-old Dominik J., 11-year-old Damian J., 9-year-old Julia J., and Kamil’s younger brother, Fabian M.

The prosecution stated that exceptionally brutal methods were used against the eight-year-old, who was regularly beaten, kicked, burned with cigarettes, and forced to sleep on the floor. The child was also thrown against furniture and the floor.

Sexual Abuse and Criminal Recidivism

Investigators emphasized that Dawid B. acted as a recidivist, having previously served a two-year prison sentence for similar crimes between 2017 and 2019. The indictment also included a charge regarding the sexual abuse of a minor, accusing the man of forcing a girl to submit to sexual acts by touching her intimate areas.

The Boy’s Mother Was Sentenced for Complicity

Magdalena B. stood before the court for complicity in murder through the failure to protect the child. According to the prosecution, the woman knew about her husband’s violence against the children but did not react or attempt to stop the aggression.

Investigators pointed out that the mother failed to report the matter to the appropriate services despite the children’s visible injuries. Prosecutors argued that her behavior enabled the continued abuse of Kamil and his younger brother, Fabian. Family relatives Aneta J. and Wojciech J. also faced trial for failing to provide assistance despite being aware of the situation in the home.
