Court Orders 3‑Month Detention of Man Who Assaulted Taxi Driver

Polish court detained Dominik P. for three months after police allege he tried to kill a taxi driver and stabbed him in November 2025.

Court Orders Temporary Detention

The District Court in Grodzisk Mazowiecki imposed a three‑month provisional detention on Dominik P., a suspect from Milanówka, amid allegations of an attempted murder of a taxi driver on the night of 12–13 November 2025.

The Incident

According to prosecutors, Dominik P. met two female acquaintances in Milanówka, and together they drove to a fuel station on Królewska Street before heading back home. Unable to pay for the taxi ride, P. used one woman’s phone to order a taxi for himself and the two women.

The taxi, arriving on Zachodnia Street, was allegedly refused payment by P. The driver and P. became quarrelsome, leading to a physical confrontation when the driver attempted to stop P. as he attempted to leave without paying.

Attack and Assault

During the altercation, P. reportedly threatened the driver with death, then brandished a knife and stabbed the victim several times near the chest and left back. After the assault, he fled the scene and later returned with the women, claiming to have “cut” the driver and showing a 15–20 cm kitchen knife.

Victim’s Condition

The severely injured driver returned to the cab, used the onboard app to contact dispatch, and reported being stabbed and having trouble breathing. He was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery for serious injuries that posed a life‑threatening risk.

Legal Proceedings and Future Actions

P. was arrested, questioned, and partly admitted wrongdoing. The court applied preventive measures citing flight and procedural sabotage concerns. The prosecution will continue the investigation, seeking full medical records, toxicology of P., the knife, additional witness statements, and forensic reports.

Potential Sentencing

Prosecutor Piotr Antoni Skiba warned that if convicted, P. faces a minimum 10‑year sentence or life imprisonment for attempted murder and grievous bodily harm.
