Court Orders Psychiatric Evaluation for 18-Year-Old Bartosz G.

Płock court orders 18-year-old Bartosz G. to undergo psychiatric observation following murder charges.

Court Decision on Psychiatric Evaluation

The District Court in Płock has ordered 18-year-old Bartosz G. to undergo a psychiatric examination combined with observation in a psychiatric institution. Court spokesperson Iwona Wiśniewska-Bartoszewska reported that the observation will be conducted at a specified psychiatric facility and last a maximum of four weeks.

Prosecutor’s Request Based on Expert Opinion

The request for a psychiatric observation ruling was submitted to the Criminal Department of the Płock District Court on February 12. It was prepared by the Płock District Prosecutor’s Office and considered during a closed session. In January, the 18-year-old underwent a one-day psychiatric examination conducted by a team of specialists, concerning his sanity at the time of the alleged offense. After receiving expert opinions, the prosecution determined that it was necessary to refer the suspect for longer observation.

Murder of 16-Year-Old Maja from Mława

The tragedy occurred in the spring of last year. On the evening of April 23, 16-year-old Maja left her home for what was supposed to be about a 30-minute return, but she did not appear. The search for the teenager began on the evening of April 24 when her mother reported her missing to the Radom Provincial Police Headquarters. On May 1, the girl’s body was found in bushes near a production facility belonging to the suspect’s family. On the same day, 17-year-old Bartosz G. was arrested in Greece. At the end of December, he was transported to Poland. Two days after being brought to the country, he was charged with murder with particular cruelty. During questioning at the Płock prosecutor’s office, he pleaded not guilty and refused to provide explanations.

Autopsy Findings and Purpose of Observation

The autopsy revealed that the cause of the 16-year-old’s death was extensive head injuries. The psychiatric observation is intended to help experts determine whether the suspect was sane at the time of the offense. The course of further proceedings will depend on this opinion.
