Court Receives Arrest Requests for Railway Sabotage Suspects

On November 19, Warsaw’s District Court received applications for temporary arrest of two suspects accused of sabotaging railway line 7, marking the first step in a prosecution tied to Russian intelligence.

Investigation Reveals Larger Group at Railway Sabotage

National Prosecutor Dariusz Korneluk told TVN24 that evidence shows a larger group was involved, with two primary suspects identified as Ukrainians cooperating with others. He noted that there are many traces and evidence, including searches, document analysis, and partial detentions, confirming earlier warnings of additional arrests.

Arrest Applications Filed for Suspects

Before the hour, prosecutors submitted applications to the District Court for Warsaw‑Mokotów for temporary arrest. This is the initial criminal‑procedure step before a prosecutor can issue a red notice; the next steps may involve an international red notice or, potentially, an Interpol red notice.

Charges Unveiled Against Two Ukrainian Nationals

On November 19, Waldemar Żurek announced that Oleksandr K. and Yevhenii I. will face charges for placing a C4 device under railway tracks in Mika and damaging infrastructure in Gołąb, creating a direct risk of catastrophe. Evidence includes witness statements, telecommunications data, and surveillance recordings.

Both men fled to Belarus on November 16, preventing their arrest and formal indictment while the case proceeds.

International Search and Possible Red Notices

The Minister of Justice stated that the charges involve sabotage on behalf of Russian intelligence, creation of catastrophe danger, and use of explosives, carrying a potential life‑sentence. He added that Poland will pursue the suspects worldwide and prosecute anyone opposing Polish state and citizens.
