The Raw District Court denied a forced mortgage request for former minister Zbigniew Ziobry’s house, nullifying a security claim of up to 143 million PLN.
Court Declines Forced Mortgage
The Raw District Court in Masovian refused to record a forced mortgage on Ziobry’s property after a petition filed by the Prosecutor’s Office in mid‑November. The requested security, which could have amounted to 143 million PLN, was rejected on the grounds of mathematical errors and lack of a clear receivable. The judge noted missing creditor information and that the sum was already secured against another of Ziobry’s assets. Prosecutors may appeal the decision.
Prosecutor Unveils 26 Charges
The Prosecutor’s Office presented evidence suggesting that Ziobry committed 26 qualified offenses, including abuse of authority, neglect of official duties, leading an organized criminal group, and defrauding funds from the Justice Fund. These allegations could lead to a cumulative prison sentence of up to 25 years. On 13 November, prosecutors lodged a 30‑day arrest request against Ziobry.
