A coastline section over 100 kilometers long was destroyed, with many streets, houses, resorts, and restaurants flooded.

Damage in Sicily Exceeds Half a Billion Euros

Sicily’s regional head Renato Schifani reported preliminary damage estimates from Cyclone Harry at over half a billion euros. The Messina authorities requested military assistance, while alert states remain in force on Sardinia, Sicily, and in Calabria. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni is closely monitoring the situation and pledged state support for affected communities. Cyclone Harry also caused significant coastal damage in Malta.
