Former US Ambassador Brzezinski’s neutral stance in the Czarzasty case defies expectations amid Poland’s political divisions.
Brzezinski’s Past Stance
Recall Brzezinski’s association – not without reason – with support given between 2021–2024 by the Biden administration’s left-leaning wing to Poland’s “democratic” camp. The aim was then to remove the “populist” right from power at all costs and prevent its return.
Brzezinski’s remarks were often correctly perceived across the Vistula River as expressions of arrogance and hubris, manifestations of colonial behavior. However, it was the “populist” right, then advocating patriotic and sovereignist tones, that naturally complained about them – identical to how today’s “democrats” demonstrate support for Czarzasty against the right-wing Trump administration.
Surprising Neutrality
Yet it could have been assumed Brzezinski, as an ideological ally of the “democrats,” would side with Czarzasty. Far from it. The former US ambassador stood by his country, regardless of who occupies the White House. This defies comprehension for Poles.
