Czarzasty as Sejm Marshal? Poles Remain Unconvinced—New Poll

In a 15–17 November poll of 1,003 Polish adults, 55% oppose Włodzimierz Czarzasty as Sejm marshal, 45% endorse him.

Poll Methodology and Results

The poll, conducted by the Pollster Institute for SuperExpress, asked respondents whether Włodzimierz Czarzasty should become Sejm marshal. Among the 1,003 adults surveyed from 15 to 17 November, 55% opposed his candidacy while 45% supported him.

Expert Commentary on Low Support

Dr. Sergiusz Trzeciak explained that opposition stems from the entire opposition, as well as a segment of Poland 2050 and the Polish People’s Party. He said the low support for the Left may also leave some voters confused about Hołownia’s resignation.

Political Context: Hołownia’s Departure and Succession Agreement

On 18 November, Szymon Hołownia officially stepped down as Sejm marshal. An agreement among coalition partners stipulates that Włodzimierz Czarzasty will replace him.

Party Endorsements and Upcoming Sejm Vote

Civic Coalition, Left, Poland 2050, and the Polish People’s Party have already confirmed support for Czarzasty. During the impending session, MPs will also elect one or more vice‑marshals; Poland 2050 intends to nominate Szymon Hołowni and the ruling party PiS plans to put forward Elżbieta Witek.
