Vice Premier Krzysztof Gawkowski claims Włodzimierz Czarzasty himself asked intelligence services to check him.
Gawkowski Responds
Vice Premier Krzysztof Gawkowski addressed Włodzimierz Czarzasty’s failure to complete a security questionnaire on Monday. Gawkowski stated Czarzasty had personally requested verification by intelligence services. The Minister of Digital Affairs noted that when Czarzasty became Deputy Marshal in 2019 under PiS rule, services were obligated to check him, as with all Sejm Presidium members, and everything was then in order.
Gawkowski described PiS actions in this matter as “political maneuvering.”
PiS Targets Czarzasty
PiS is demanding an extraordinary Sejm session regarding Czarzasty. Interior Minister Mariusz Błaszczak questioned why Czarzasty, as former Deputy Marshal serving on the Special Services Commission for two years, never submitted the questionnaire. Błaszczak suggested it might involve undeclared foreign relations, referencing Gazeta Polska’s claims about ongoing business ties between Czarzasty’s family and a Russian businesswoman.
Czarzasty’s Eastern Connections
Wirtualna Polska identified the businesswoman as Swietłana Czestnych, whom Czarzasty met through a friend while running the Muza publishing house. She allegedly provided unpublished photos of the Spała palace from Russian archives. Muza later published her books and sold her a partial stake in a Spała hotel in 2019 for liquidity. Czarzasty reportedly stated she married a Pole and now holds dual citizenship.
President Karol Nawrocki convened the National Security Council for Wednesday to discuss Czarzasty’s Eastern contacts, a government loan for the SAFE program, and Poland’s invitation to the Peace Council.
