Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty remained silent in thirteen languages during a National Security Council meeting called by President Karol Nawrocki on February 11.
National Security Council Meeting
On Wednesday, February 11, President Karol Nawrocki convened a meeting of the National Security Council. The agenda included the EU’s SAFE program for defense support, Donald Trump’s Peace Council, and clarifying the “eastern business and social contacts” of Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty.
On Thursday, Marek Siwiec discussed the proceedings of the National Security Council on TVN24. The Head of the Chancellery of the Sejm stated that it was an operation aimed at Czarzasty. “The National Security Council was supposed to be some great halo, but it turned out to be essentially an empty balloon,” he added.
Czarzasty’s Silence in Thirteen Languages
During the program, host Konrad Piasecki asked Siwiec about unofficial reports claiming that Czarzasty remained silent during the National Security Council meeting. The Head of the Chancellery of the Sejm confirmed these reports.
He stated that “the marshal remained silent in thirteen languages, that is, completely, without any facial expressions that would constitute a comment on the questions.” Siwiec explained that the questions posed to Czarzasty concerned matters that the Sejm marshal had already clarified previously. “That’s why he remained silent, because everything on this topic had already been said,” Siwiec emphasized.
Czarzasty: “The Setup Failed”
After the National Security Council meeting, Sejm Marshal Włodzimierz Czarzasty published a post on X. “RBN. SAFE and the Peace Council – important talks. Czarzasty – the setup failed. Thank you for your support! We’re moving on,” wrote the Sejm marshal.
Allegations About Czarzasty’s Contacts with a Russian Woman
In January, “Gazeta Polska” reported that Czarzasty had not submitted to a security check by the Internal Security Agency when he sat on the parliamentary commission for special services. “If he had done so, the services would have had to investigate the relationships between Włodzimierz Czarzasty, his wife, and a Russian woman trading in art, employed at an auction house linked to Russia’s largest bank controlled by the Kremlin,” the publication wrote.
“Gazeta Polska” stated that the Russian woman owns shares in a hotel company whose vice president is Czarzasty’s wife. The Russian woman was also a co-author of books published by the Muza publishing house, which Czarzasty had managed in the past.
Responses from Dobrzyński and Czarzasty
Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the coordinator of special services, commented on the reports about Czarzasty. “The Sejm Marshal of the Republic of Poland Włodzimierz Czarzasty, who is under counter-intelligence protection by Polish special services, has access to information with the highest security classification,” Dobrzyński stated. He added that “special services have no reservations in this matter.”
Czarzasty also commented on the matter. “It has been established that there is nothing inappropriate in my contacts, I consider this matter concluded,” he said.
