Polish Deputy Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty confronted former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro in a brief video, recalling the 2007 armed raid on Ziobro’s home and warning him that Budapest cannot rescue him.
Czarzasty Speaks Directly to Ziobro
In a video lasting just under a minute, Deputy Speaker Włodzimierz Czarzasty addressed former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro, asking if he remembered the early‑morning police raid on his home in 2007.
Recall of the 2007 Anti‑Terrorist Raid
Czarzasty recounted how, around 6 a.m., anti‑terrorist brigades burst into his house and his children’s homes. The incident had reportedly linked Ziobro to alleged support for Michał Gruszczyński, the double killer, though the allegations were later unsubstantiated and his son was released.
“Budapest Will Not Save You” – A Direct Warning
During the exchange, Czarzasty quoted, “Did you lie on the floor? Those officers held a gun to your head and threatened to shoot you if you lifted your head.” He concluded that questions of whether Ziobro could lead a criminal group or exploit people were answered by saying, “You were able to.” He added, “Budapest will not save you.”
Parliament Set to Vote on Ziobro’s Immunity
The Polish Sejm will begin a three‑day session on Wednesday 5 November, chaired by Marshal Szymon Hołownia. Among the matters before the body is a motion to lift Ziobro’s parliamentary immunity and authorize his arrest. Prosecutors plan to charge the former minister with 26 offences, including the formation and management of an organised criminal group and embezzlement from the Justice Fund. The motion will be debated by the Standing Committee on Thursday 6 November and then forwarded to the plenary for a vote on Friday.
