Czarzasty’s Video Pushes Ziobro to Recall Blida’s Death

On 6 November, Włodzimierz Czarzasty posted a video in which he urged former prosecutor Andrzej Ziobro to remember the 2007 death of former minister Barbara Blida. Czarzasty described alleged intimidation tactics, including waiting hours at the prosecutor’s office and being mocked by a prosecutor who would repeatedly say “o jeszcze panijest?”

He asked Ziobro whether he could explain “why such situations happened” when he served as prosecutor general, noting that authorities entered people’s homes with cameras, caused deaths, and threatened citizens.

Accusations of State‑Led Intimidation

Czarzasty claimed that Ziobro, Święczkowski, and others were informed about the violence that befell Blida. He questioned whether perpetrators were praised by higher officials such as Kaczyński, suspecting a pattern of state‑sanctioned intimidation.

Barbara Blida’s Political Trajectory

Blida began her career with the Polish United Workers’ Party (PZPR), later joined the Social Democracy of the Republic of Poland (SRP), and served as Minister of Construction from 1993 to 1996. In 1999 she joined the Democratic Left Alliance (SLD).

When security services opened a fraud investigation into the coal mafia, Blida was suspected of assisting bribery. On 25 April 2007, Internal Security Agency officers entered her home to arrest her, though she reportedly requested to use the toilet.

Police Raid and Alleged Foul Play

During the raid, a security officer allegedly instructed Blida to take a revolver from her cupboard and reportedly shoot herself in the chest. In June 2007, Justice Minister Adam Bodnar established a task force to examine the circumstances surrounding Blida’s death.
