Czech authorities have arrested additional suspects in connection with the March 2026 arson of an arms factory in Pardubice, expanding the international investigation.
Fire at Czech Factory
A fire that sparked an international investigation occurred on March 20, 2026, at an industrial complex in Pardubice. The blaze completely destroyed a production hall and severely damaged the administrative building of LPP Holding, a known manufacturer of drones supplied to Ukraine.
Material losses are significant, and the nature of the target initially indicated political or sabotage motives.
New Leads in the Investigation
Czech Television (Česká televize) reported a breakthrough in the investigation regarding the arson of the LPP Holding production hall in Pardubice. On Saturday, Czech authorities charged another individual, while on Friday, another suspect was apprehended in Bulgaria based on a European Arrest Warrant.
Czech authorities have announced they will request the suspect’s extradition to the country.
Suspects Identified as Foreign Nationals
According to official statements from the Prague National Prosecutor’s Office, both newly detained individuals are foreign nationals. The case is being led by elite officers from the National Center Against Terrorism, Extremism and Cybercrime (NCTEKK).
Investigators are charging the apprehended individuals with serious offenses, including committing a terrorist attack and participating in an organized terrorist group.
Possible False Flag Operation
Although a purported anti-Israeli group claimed responsibility for the attack, Czech security services are investigating the hypothesis that it was a so-called false flag operation. Specialists suspect the group may have served as a cover for the actions of another state or external state actor.
Analysis of surveillance footage suggests that a group of up to nine perpetrators may have been involved in the arson.
Seven Arrests Made to Date
To date, a total of seven people have been arrested in connection with the fire, with four in Czech custody and one – a US citizen – detained in Slovakia. Polish authorities have also confirmed the arrest of a man and a woman in Poland suspected of involvement in the incident.
Police emphasize that the case is ongoing, and law enforcement agencies from many European countries are involved in apprehending the remaining suspects.
