Polish police in Stargard detained a Czech national sought under a European Arrest Warrant on suspicion of murder in Prague.
European Arrest Warrant Issued
The Stargard County Police Command (West Pomeranian Voivodeship) received a European Arrest Warrant for a Czech citizen last weekend. Authorities indicated the individual was considered particularly dangerous, especially towards women.
The man was suspected of committing crimes against life and health in Prague.
Suspect Identified
Police identified the suspect based on a description. They determined he had recently arrived at a homeless shelter and recognized him accordingly.
Upon identification, the Czech citizen was confirmed as the subject of the European Arrest Warrant.
Arrest and Detention
Police detained the man and transported him to the Stargard police headquarters for procedural actions. The Szczecin District Prosecutor’s Office has submitted a request to the court for temporary arrest to facilitate the European Arrest Warrant procedure.
Extradition Request Expected
Czech police reported that the man suspected of murdering a woman whose charred body was found by firefighters while extinguishing a fire in Prague has been arrested in Poland.
Police will request his extradition to the Czech Republic.
