On 13 November at about 13:00 on Piotrkowska Street in central Łódź, a serious accident involving two trams occurred.
Preliminary police findings suggest the driver of line 2 tram failed to exercise due caution and struck the rear of a waiting line 3 tram at a stop. Roughly 120 passengers were aboard both vehicles.
Injuries and Response
The collision left 12 passengers wounded. Three required transfer to hospitals, while the remaining injured were attended on site. Most injuries involved the head and legs. Both tram drivers were sober.
Police, firefighters and medical rescue teams were on the scene.
Service Disruptions
After the accident, tram operations in both directions on Piotrkowska Street were halted. Trams on lines 2, 3, 6, 7, 11 and 19 were rerouted via Żwirka and Kościuszki streets.
Officials urged drivers and passengers to avoid the area and exercise caution while police investigate the precise circumstances.
