Accident Summary
At night on 7 October, a car traveling on highway 224 near Łebieńska Huta struck a group of children: three on bicycles and one walking. A 10‑year‑old died at the scene; 12‑ and 13‑year‑olds received hospital care for injuries to the arm, leg, and head; a 16‑year‑old, who had an amputated limb, was transported by helicopter.
Driver’s Condition and License Status
Police found the driver intoxicated with alcohol and under the influence of drugs, and he possessed no valid driving licence, which had been revoked months earlier.
Allegations of Fleeing and Failure to Aid
The prosecution alleges that after the crash Marcin R. fled the scene without offering assistance and was later intercepted in Kościerzyna. In interrogation, he admitted causing the accident and not helping the victims but denied other charges, citing shock and memory loss.
Potential Sentence
He faces a prison term ranging from five to twenty years, accused of causing a fatal accident, failing to render aid, and operating a vehicle while drunk and drugged. The case is being investigated by the Wejherowo District Prosecutor’s Office.
