Two young men are dead and a third remains in critical condition following a catastrophic five-vehicle crash on Saturday evening in Ząbki, Wołomin County, involving a ride-sharing driver.
The Sequence of the Collision
The incident occurred on Saturday, June 6, around 7:40 PM on Piłsudskiego Street. A Honda, serving as a ride-sharing vehicle, was heading toward Marsa Street when the driver attempted a U-turn from a right-turn-only lane. This maneuver triggered a collision with an oncoming Audi.
The impact caused the Audi to strike a utility pole and flip, disintegrating upon impact. The debris from the wreckage subsequently damaged three other vehicles: two Toyotas and a Ford.
Emergency Response and Casualties
The occupants of the Audi suffered the most severe injuries. Firefighters utilized specialized technical rescue equipment to extract one man who was trapped in the wreckage, while another had been ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
Three young men, all passengers in the Audi, were transported to the hospital in critical condition. Hospital officials later confirmed the deaths of the 22 and 23-year-old victims. The third passenger remains in critical condition.
Investigation and Legal Status
Emergency services deployed five fire brigades, five medical teams, and an Air Ambulance to the scene. Police officers secured the area and blocked traffic on provincial road 631 in both directions to facilitate their investigation.
The driver of the Honda, a 37-year-old Turkish citizen, tested negative for alcohol and has been detained by police. Investigators have yet to determine who was driving the Audi at the time of the collision.
