Democratic Victory in Texas State Senate

Democrat Taylor Rehmet won a special Texas state Senate election this weekend, defeating Republican Leigh Wambsganss by 15 percentage points. Wambsganss was supported by President Donald Trump, who had a 17-point advantage in this district during the presidential election.

Momentum for Democrats Ahead of November

The Democratic National Committee viewed Rehmet’s victory as another sign that Democrats have momentum before the November elections, when Americans will vote for the House of Representatives and one-third of the Senate.

Dedication to Working People

33-year-old Air Force veteran Taylor Rehmet dedicated his victory to “ordinary, working people” in a video posted on X. His opponent Leigh Wambsganss warned that the result should be a signal to Republicans, noting that many stayed home instead of voting.
