Democrats Accuse Trump of Lies, Scapegoating, and Distraction

Democrat Abigail Spanberger countered President Trump’s speech, accusing him of lying, seeking scapegoats, and diverting attention from his administration’s failures.

Trump’s Claims

During his congressional address, Donald Trump claimed rising living costs in the US are the Democrats’ fault and accused party politicians of refusing to cooperate with his administration. He dismissed allegations against himself.

Three Questions for Trump

Spanberger emphasized that many US issues stem from the president’s actions. She asked: Is Trump working to make prices more affordable? Is he ensuring Americans’ safety at home and abroad? Is he serving the public interest? She answered “no” to all three questions during a Virginia speech.

Examples of Self-Interest

Spanberger cited examples indicating Trump prioritizes personal gain over citizens’ welfare: covering up Epstein’s documents, crypto fraud scandals, flattering foreign princes, and placing his name on buildings across Washington. She stated this contradicts the founders’ vision.

Foreign Policy Criticism

The Virginia governor criticized Trump’s foreign policy, listing actions she perceives as concessions: yielding economic power and technology to Russia, flattering China, paying homage to a Russian dictator, and planning war with Iran.

Who is Abigail Spanberger?

A former CIA agent (2006-2014), Spanberger served as a Democratic congresswoman (2019-2025) and became the first female governor of Virginia last year.
