Polish Deputy Interior Minister Maciej Duszczyk announced his resignation from the government, citing a personal decision and a shift toward the Chancellery, ending his tenure on 30 November.
Personal resignation
Deputy Interior Minister Maciej Duszczyk announced that he would resign from the government, calling the move a personal decision. He had been in office since December 2023 and had consulted the leadership of his parliamentary club, Polska 2050, during the process.
Earlier hints of departure
He first mentioned the possibility of leaving in July while speaking with Minister Marcin Kierwiński and then‑Chairman of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia. The deputy said he would finish remaining tasks before stepping down and that he would remain involved in migration matters, though not as a deputy minister.
End of service
The Polish Press Agency reports that Duszczyk’s tenure ended on 30 November. In October he indicated he might work at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
Background in migration policy
During his time in the ministry, Duszczyk handled migration issues. He is a research fellow at the Institute for Migration Studies and at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies of the University of Warsaw, and formerly chaired the University of Gdańsk’s council.
Party thanks and praise
Polska 2050 thanked Duszczyk for “great work, deep knowledge, calm analysis, and responsible, data‑driven policymaking.” The party called his work “full professionalism and courage” in a statement posted on its social media.
