Keaton, best known for her roles in “Thelma & Louise”, “The First Wives Club”, and “Father of the Bride”, died at the age of 79. The Academy Award‑winning actress received her Oscar in 1978 for Best Actress for her portrayal of Annie Hall in Woody Allen’s film of the same name, and was nominated three more times. She also earned two Golden Globes, a BAFTA award, and honors from the American Film Institute and the American Society of Film Critics.

Personal Life and Motherhood

Keaton never married. She was romantically linked to Woody Allen, Al Pacino and Warren Beatty. In 1996 she adopted a daughter named Dexter, and in 2001 she adopted a son named Duke.

In a 2008 interview cited by People, she explained that motherhood was a desire she could not resist: “It was a thought that had been with me for a very long time, so I decided to embrace it.”
