The Walt Disney Company, owner of ABC, announced on September 23 that Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show will return, after a brief suspension due to controversy.
Program Suspension and Reinstatement
The Walt Disney Company stated on Monday, September 23, that Jimmy Kimmel’s nocturnal talk show will return to air the following day. The show was suspended due to concerns that some comments made by Kimmel were “not in good taste and insensitive.”
Discussions with the presenter took place over the past few days, leading to the decision to reinstate the program for an “indefinite period.”
Reasons Behind the Suspension
Kimmel’s program was suspended after he suggested that the assassin of Charlie Kirk might have had right-wing views and that the “MAGA gang” was capitalizing on the situation.
Donald Trump, however, claimed that the show was pulled due to “poor ratings,” and criticized Kimmel, saying he is “not a talented person.”
Trump’s Comments on Media and Licensing
Trump also stated that television stations are biased against him, but noted that he still won the presidential election.
He suggested that stations like ABC, which are negatively disposed towards him, might lose their licenses, as they require a federal government license to operate.
