Dispute with US Ambassador. Media: Government Reacts. “Behaved Very Badly”

Polish government seeks de-escalation after US ambassador criticized by ministers for “very bad behavior” regarding Tusk’s defense of Sejm Marshal.

Government Seeks De-escalation

No one wants to further escalate the conflict, said one key minister to Onet. The matter is being handled by Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski. However, the desire for de-escalation does not change the fact that members of Donald Tusk’s government critically evaluate Tom Rose’s statements. The ambassador behaved very badly, emphasized one of them.

Tusk Defends Marshal, Ambassador Responds

On Thursday, the prime minister defended Włodzimierz Czarzasty. “Ambassador Rose, allies should respect each other, not lecture. At least that’s how we understand partnership in Poland,” wrote Donald Tusk. Tom Rose responded. “I assume your thoughtful and well-worded message was mistakenly sent to me, since you certainly wanted to direct it to Marshal of the Sejm Włodzimierz Czarzasty, whose shameful, dismissive, and insulting comments about President Trump could have potentially harmed your government,” stated the US ambassador.

As he emphasized, “I have the utmost respect and admiration for the courageous leadership of Tusk and the decades-long contribution that strengthened US-Poland relations.” “You have been a true model ally and a great friend of the United States. I know you would agree that insulting and demeaning Donald Trump – Poland’s greatest friend in the White House – is the last thing any Polish leader should do,” he added.

US Ambassador: Cutting Ties with Czarzasty

On Thursday (February 5), Ambassador Tom Rose published a statement on X about cutting contacts with the Polish parliament chairman. “We will no longer maintain contact or communicate with Marshal of the Sejm Czarzasty, whose outrageous and unjustified slurs against President Trump have become a serious obstacle to our excellent relations with Prime Minister Tusk and his government. We will not allow anyone to harm Polish-American relations or show disrespect to Donald Trump, who has done so much for Poland and the Polish nation,” wrote the American diplomat.

Recall that Włodzimierz Czarzasty said he would not support the nomination of US President for the Nobel Peace Prize, because he “does not deserve it.”
