Doctor Convicted of Ketamine Supply in Matthew Perry’s Death

In October 2023, the death of actor Matthew Perry prompted the conviction of Dr Salvador Plasencia, who was sentenced to 30 months for illegally supplying the drug in the weeks before the Los Angeles actor’s collapse.

Judge Issues 30‑Month Sentence

Dr Salvador Plasencia was convicted of distributing ketamine to Matthew Perry during the months preceding the actor’s October 2023 death. He pled guilty in June to four charges and reached a plea deal with the court.

The court also named four other defendants, who will face separate proceedings. During sentencing, the judge refused to allow a camera in the courtroom.

Emotional Apology to Perry’s Family

In a tear‑filled address, Plasencia apologized to the actor’s relatives, stating that he failed to protect Perry and that he will explain the failure to his two‑year‑old son.

Death and Autopsy Findings

Matthew Perry was discovered dead in a jacuzzi at his Los Angeles home on 28 October 2023. Initial reports suggested cardiac arrest, prompting toxicology tests and an autopsy. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Murder Unit led the investigation, but no third‑party involvement was indicated.

Family’s Grief Statement

Perry’s parents and siblings issued a heartfelt memorial, describing the actor as “a beloved son and brother” whose presence brought joy to fans and friends alike.
