Doda to Meet with Nawrocki on Animal Rights Legislation

Singer Doda will meet with Karol Nawrocki on February 3 to discuss stricter penalties for animal abuse and shelter reforms.

Doda’s Meeting with Nawrocki

Radio ESKA has confirmed that a meeting between Dorota Rabczewska (Doda) and Karol Nawrocki regarding animal rights will take place on Tuesday, February 3. The singer is demanding “harsher penalties for animal abuse,” “training for judges and prosecutors in sentencing,” and “revoking ownership rights from abusers.” Doda also wants lifetime, not temporary, bans on animal ownership for those who harm animals.

On Monday, the artist met with Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek on this matter. “Today I was invited by the Minister of Justice to a meeting. My demands were heard with great engagement and understanding,” wrote the artist. “Now I am waiting for action,” she added.

Doda Highlights Shelter Abuses

The singer has long been involved in helping and fighting for animal rights. The most recent example was highlighting the situation in several shelters, including in Bytom. Doda’s actions resulted in inspections ordered by the Ministry of the Interior and Administration across Poland. As a result, deficiencies were found in four facilities located in Tarnów, Oświęcim, Sobolew, and Golub-Dobrzyń. In these locations, voivodes arrived with police and district veterinary doctors.

Control Results in Shelters

The Ministry published the results of the inspections, which revealed neglect in the mentioned facilities. “Such shortcomings were found as: insufficient protection of animals from the cold, frozen water in pens, damage and deficiencies in infrastructure, too many animals in confined spaces, insufficient hygiene, and careless documentation of procedures and employee actions,” wrote MSWiA in a statement issued on January 22.
