Police in Przasnysz rescued a dog frozen to a roadside after it escaped its owner during freezing temperatures.
Emergency Rescue Operation
On Wednesday, January 21st, police in Przasnysz received a report about a dog lying in a roadside ditch in Przysowy. Officers immediately responded to find the animal frozen to the roadside, weakened and suffering from hypothermia.
Police chipped away the ice, freed the dog, covered it with a thermal blanket and their own clothing, then transported it to a patrol car where they fed it. The animal was taken to a veterinarian for necessary treatment.
Animal Safety Appeal
Police emphasized that frost and winter weather are particularly dangerous for animals, warning that animals left without proper shelter may not survive. They urged citizens to report cases of animals needing help, noting that “one phone call can save a life.”
“If you witness an animal being harmed – don’t hesitate to act and react immediately,” police stated in their appeal.
Legal Consequences
Not providing adequate shelter protecting animals from weather conditions constitutes an offense, police reminded. Keeping animals in conditions threatening their health, life, or causing suffering can be prosecuted as animal cruelty.
