A company showcases its philanthropic activities while raising questions about genuine charitable intent versus image building.
Corporate Philanthropy in Action
A certain company prides itself on helping. It organizes competitions for entrepreneurs and invites investors. It doesn’t forget about children – on Earth Day, employees visit elementary schools and help students clean up the area around the schools. Those in the worst situations can also count on support.
In one of Warsaw’s districts, a renovation of an apartment was needed. People from the company took up brushes and hammers and renovated an apartment for a retiree.
Public Relations vs. Genuine Giving
It looked like providing help where it was most needed. However, after each such action, the company would call press conferences or invite media to cover these events to follow the marathon of goodwill.
It may give the impression that the core is building image, with help merely being a pretext. How does this relate to philanthropy?
