On Monday, December 8 Tusk posted a high‑resolution image of Gdańsk Shipyard, taken just two days earlier by the ICEYE satellite, thanking its president for the timely capture.
ICEYE Satellite Praised by Donald Tusk
The Polish premier posted a photo of the Gdańsk Shipyard on December 8, thanking ICEYE president Rafał Modrzewski for the capture. Tusk, a native of Gdańsk, highlighted the city as one of the first images taken by the satellite.
Images Captured Within a Week of Launch
Modrzewski explained that the satellite’s images were taken only a week after its 28 November 2025 launch. He praised the high‑resolution (25 cm) shots of locations across Poland, including Warsaw and the Tatra Mountains.
Military Satellite Designed for Strategic Support
Launched under the MikroSAR programme, the satellite’s subsystems were verified and calibrated before being handed to the Polish armed forces. Its first operational images were taken on 2 December.
Multi‑Mode Imaging Enables Tactical Flexibility
ICEYE states that the satellite’s various imaging modes—from wide‑area surveillance useful for border monitoring to high‑resolution captures revealing individual objects—provide the Polish military with comprehensive reconnaissance capabilities.
