“Don’t Bite My Ass”: Heated Row at Jonkowo Council Meeting Leads to Police Investigation

A heated confrontation involving Jonkowo mayor Jacek Jatkiewicz and councilor Joanna Wrona on December 11 sparked a police investigation into harassment and assault.

Dispute erupts during budget committee session

During the budget committee meeting on December 11 in Jonkowo, Mayor Jacek Jatkiewicz began a debate with a fellow councilor. The discussion quickly turned personal when councilor Joanna Wrona interrupted, telling the mayor to be quiet and later demanding, “Can you shut your mouth?” The mayor admitted feeling insulted as tension grew.

Councilor’s offensive remarks prompt chair’s intervention

Chairman Paweł Karpeza intervened, pleading with the councilor to control her emotions. In response, she repeated the phrase “Don’t bite my ass” several times and urged the chairman to silence the mayor, who then called for a five‑minute break to calm the room.

Violence follows verbal clash

After the break, Wrona confronted the mayor with further insults, some captured on audio. The chairman ended the meeting, but Wrona accused the mayor of intimidation, claiming he had “threatened” her. The situation escalated to a physical confrontation.

Police investigate harassment and assault charges

On December 15, the Olsztyn Municipal Police accepted a complaint alleging violations of personal dignity and public defamation. The investigation focuses on the mayor’s alleged physical assault during the committee session.

Mayor cites repeated incidents involving the councilor

Mayor Jatkiewicz stated that this was not the first altercation with Wrona, recalling earlier episodes where she struck the municipal secretary and another incident involving her legal counsel, both of which led to ongoing police proceedings.

Mayor’s frustration over councilor’s behavior

The mayor insists that Wrona’s conduct hampers the functioning of the office and the council. He mentioned that officials called police twice for safety concerns and noted that one councilor resigned, with Wrona’s departure attributed to her behavior.

Councilor refuses to apologize after public backlash

Following the video’s publication, Wrona appeared at the council session on December 17, claiming she did not know what to apologize for. She suggested a live television appearance featuring the mayor, all councilors, and willing residents, rejecting any public apology.
