On Monday, May 25, at approximately 1:45 PM, two separate accidents occurred on the S8 route toward Poznań near the Annopol tunnels, forcing lane closures and causing traffic to back up toward Marki.
Two Collisions Near Annopol Tunnels
Both accidents occurred on the transit lane of the S8 expressway heading toward Poznań. The first incident involved two tractor-trailers, a Scania and a Mercedes, which collided with one another.
Initial reports indicate that the vehicles rear-ended each other. Both trucks sustained significant damage, though no injuries were reported in the collision.
Secondary Crash and Traffic Impact
A second collision occurred immediately adjacent to the first. A driver operating an Opel passenger car collided with a Scania truck transporting a maritime container while attempting to change lanes; there were no injuries reported in this incident either.
The accidents resulted in severe traffic congestion. With three lanes blocked toward the Grota Bridge, motorists were restricted to a single lane, causing a significant traffic jam that extended back as far as Marki.
