Poland braces for extreme cold as low as -25°C with snow showers expected across the country this weekend.
Cold, but Calm Night
The night from January 31 to February 1 is expected to be clear almost throughout the country. More clouds will appear only in the southern and western regions, where light snowfall is possible in some places. It will be coldest in the northeast, where thermometers will show from -25 to -23 degrees Celsius.
In the rest of the country, the minimum temperature will mostly range from -20 to -15 degrees, and around -10 degrees in the southwest.
Perceived Temperature Even Lower
The wind will blow from eastern directions. Generally weak, moderately and gusty in places, especially over the sea and in the southern part of the country. Over the Baltic Sea and in mountainous areas, gusts can reach up to 50-55 km/h, which will additionally intensify the feeling of cold.
In the Bieszczady Mountains, local snow storms are possible.
Sunday Still Very Cold
On Sunday, February 1, sunny conditions will prevail in most of the country. More clouds will appear in the southwest and south, where light snow may fall in some places.
The maximum temperature will range from -17 to -14 degrees in the northeast, around -10 degrees in the center, up to -4 degrees in the southwest. The persistent cold and dry air will keep humidity low in most regions. Biometeorological conditions throughout Poland will be unfavorable and may affect well-being.
